Mackenyu Arata, who has expanded into the world and starred in his first Hollywood movie, continues to fascinate many people. This is his second appearance, and we ask him about his motivation for taking on challenges and what he has learned from being out in the world.

You probably travel a lot by plane, so is there anything you pay particular attention to when it comes to your travel clothes?
When traveling by plane, you will be sitting in the same place for a long time, so I choose something that is comfortable and not too constricting like pajamas. I adjust my sleeping hours the day before, sleeping before takeoff and waking up after landing, so wearing comfortable clothes for traveling is an absolute must.
An action scene was also shown in the movie “Saint Seiya The Beginning”. Did you do any special training for the action?
There’s nothing special that comes as a surprise. I started doing karate from a young age and am used to moving my body, so I think I have an advantage. Also, I wonder if there is blood (lol). The purpose of daily training is not to move, but to keep in shape.
Mr. Nitta is challenged every day through his works and roles. How do you deal with it when you feel like your heart is breaking while taking on a challenge?
It’s not often that I feel like I’m going to break my heart. I don’t know why? I just try my best to tackle each issue one by one, and if the results don’t work out, I think that’s fine. I think it’s more important to utilize that experience for the next time than the result.
Mr. Nitta, please tell us what drives you to keep taking on challenges.
My driving force is my dog. My daily comfort and motivation comes from my dog! I’ve always been a cat person, but now I’m completely a dog person.
By going out into the world, I feel less anxious and can face my work calmly.
What did you discover after experiencing Hollywood?
There were many discoveries and realizations. In Hollywood, everyone is equal and the working style is regular. I was also inspired by the fact that the cast and staff were putting their lives on the line. I would like to continue to be involved in manufacturing with people who can share what I saw and felt through this experience.
Is there anything that has changed about you?
Maybe going out into the world has made me less anxious. Up until then, I had worked in a way that made me feel like I was being chased by something I couldn’t see, but after experiencing overseas, I was able to face my day-to-day work calmly.
What kind of future do you envision three years from now?
I would like to spend some time with my dog sometime within the next three years. I meet my dog and see how cute he is every day. It’s especially cute when you can have a conversation. I would like to have two or three more friends someday.
